Faith is a series of mixed media paintings by Muhammadsuriyee Masu, produced between 2012 and 2013 during a formative period of intensive material exploration. Constructed through layered applications of clay, wood, latex glue, and acrylic paint, the works possess a physical weight that emphasises construction over pictorial illusion. Central to Muhammadsuriyee’s body of work is the mosque, which functions as both a structural reference and a conceptual framework for his artistic expression.

Born in Narathiwat and currently based in Pattani, Muhammadsuriyee draws from everyday religious practices shaped by life in Southern Thailand, particularly within the Malay Muslim–majority regions of Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. In a context marked by political instability, Faith articulates a quiet form of resistance. Rather than depicting conflict directly, the works turn inward, presenting belief as a stabilising force sustained through discipline, repetition, and the steady rhythms of daily life.
