ILTIZAM Seni Art Residency Programme (ILTIZAM Seni) is an initiative by Ekuiti Nasional Berhad (Ekuinas) that supports the development of artistic practices in Malaysia, particularly among young and emerging Bumiputera artists from lower-income and underprivileged backgrounds. In collaboration with SARENG, this four-month residency marks its third cycle, bringing together four selected artists—Aliff Danial, Ammar Idris, Khairanee Iro, and Mairul Malek—each with distinct approaches and practices. The residency programme took place from October 2025 to January 2026 and was held at Kampung Jambu Rias in Karak, Pahang, and included a field trip to Patani Artspace in Pattani, Thailand. Directed by Syukur Ali, the programme was supported by curator Azzad Diah and mentors Raduan Man, Ahmad Shukri Mohamed and Edroger Rosili. Their involvement encouraged dialogue through workshops, mentorships, masterclasses, discussions, and studio and gallery visits, fostering shared learning and critical exchange.

Guided by the notion of Alir—a Malay word for flow or stream—the residency is conceived as a space of transition, inviting artists to pause, shift, and recalibrate their practices. The surrounding environment—both physical and social—serves as a generative condition for rethinking and reframing artistic approaches. Anchored in the objectives of artistic growth, visual thinking, and technical competency, the residency foregrounds process as an evolving, open-ended mode of practice. This exhibition marks the culmination of the residency, presenting works developed during a period of incubation. Rather than offering fixed conclusions, the exhibition lingers in the in-between—where ideas emerge, recede, and reconfigure through process.
